Capitol East District

The redevelopment and revival of the East Washington Avenue corridor has been gaining momentum over the past 15 years. Dormant industrial buildings from Blair Street down East Washington to the Yahara River have been razed, renovated or planned for redevelopment. Since 2005, the tax base in the area has grown 350% to $437.8 million. There is an estimated additional 850,000 square feet of commercial space available, and 1,700 new jobs have been created.
